Louise Godal was born on November 30, 1924, in Pobedim, Slovakia, and joined the Sisters of St. Joseph on February 2, 1943.
For 34 years Sister Emerita was a homemaker in convents in London, Ingersoll, Delhi, Sarnia, and St. Thomas, and a food supervisor in dietary services at Killam General Hospital, Alberta, and the Home Economics Department at Mount St. Joseph Academy, London.
The highlight of her life was as a Pastoral Minister at Blessed Sacrament Church, Chatham where she ministered to parishioners for 22 years. She provided pastoral outreach by visiting homes, hospitals, and funeral homes. Sister Emerita witnessed love and compassion, which helped sustain people during difficult times. She delighted in preparing delicious celebratory meals and was also a creative and gifted seamstress and used these talents throughout her life for the benefit of others.
We thank God for Sister Emerita’s presence among us and for the tender care she received in her 100th year.
