SISTER PAULETTE MELLON

Sister Paulette, or Agnes as she was known to her family, was born on August 28, 1930, in London, and entered the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph on January 3, 1954, at Mount St. Joseph Motherhouse.

Sister Paulette began her ministry in education as a teacher in London and Sarnia and later became Principal in Windsor where she remained for 33 years. Paulette enjoyed interacting with students and their families. Her commitment to the teaching profession formed a lasting impression on other educators. In 1995, she was awarded Teacher of the Year for Ontario, having been nominated by the entire school community. Upon retiring from education, Sister Paulette, practiced child and family counselling in Windsor for twenty years.

Into her nineties, she remained actively engaged in life, covering receptionist duties, creating short stories on her iPad, and performing her magic tricks. She continued to follow politics and her favorite sports teams.  It’s no secret that over the years, Sister Paulette derived pleasure and comfort from her canine companion Riley.   Her practical yet creative spirit, enjoyment of life, and others will be missed.
